Fish 'n Chips: Update

It has been quite a while since I have had fish and chips. I attribute that mostly to budget cut backs. Yeah, living in austarian times is tough. That, combined with rabid dieting, well, it is just a recipe to live fish and chips-less. That said, I do try to have the best fish and chips in Austin recently, only to find that they no longer offered them. :(

The Alamo Drafthouse no longer offers fish and chips. I heard this from a coworker, and thought to myself, well, maybe it was just the location that you went to. Sadly, that is not the case. My mouth was set to fish and chips when we recently saw Sherlock Holmes, and was very disappointed that they had been stripped from the menu. The fish and chips at the Alamo were the finest I have had in Austin, and it was very disappointing that they no longer served them.

There are plenty of reasons the Alamo may have stopped offering them, sure, but it still grinds my gears. I know several people who swear by the fish and chips, and I would think that they would be a really great seller. Well, apparently not.

So, my recommendation for your next trip to the Alamo Drafthouse? Stick to the beers, and if they email you about your experience, demand that they put fish and chips back on the menu.

  1. Have you ever tried the Texas Tortilla Catfish at Waterloo? It isn't a traditional fish and chips, but it's pretty tasty.
